The film is a drama in which Pepita (María León) a young woman from rural Cordoba, going to Madrid after the war to be near her sister Daisy (Inma Cuesta) that is pregnant and in prison. Pepita know Paulino (Marc Clotet), a bourgeois family from Valencia, who struggles with his brother in the Sierra de Madrid. Despite the difficulty of their relationship, fall in love passionately. Hortensia is tried and sentenced to death.
